CutCat

Privacy Policy

LAST UPDATED 29 SEPTEMBER 2026

CutCat lets you mark scenes as you watch and filters the ones other viewers marked. This page says exactly what it collects, why, and what it never touches.

What we collect

What stays on your own machine

Held in your browser's extension storage, and never sent to us:

What we never collect

Why we collect it

Markings exist to be shared. Yours are shown to other viewers, who vote on whether they are right, and approved ones filter playback for everybody. Your account identifier is what makes that possible: it attributes a marking to its author, stops self-voting, and lets you edit or delete your own.

Who else sees it

Other users of CutCat see your markings and their timings, along with their vote counts. They do not see your email address. Reviewers and administrators can see who submitted a marking, in order to moderate it.

We do not sell your data, share it with advertisers, or transfer it to anyone for their own purposes. Data is stored with Google Firebase, using Firestore and Firebase Authentication, which processes it on our behalf.

How long we keep it

Markings and votes are kept while the extension is in use, because other viewers depend on them. You can delete any of your own markings at any time from the panel behind the gear icon. To have your account and everything attached to it removed, write to the address below and we will delete it.

Permissions, and why each is needed

This website

Everything above is about the extension. This site is separate, and it counts how many people press its buttons, so we can tell whether the page is doing its job. That counting uses Google Analytics through Firebase.

Children

CutCat is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect, the date at the top will change and the extension's listing will say so.
